"Sustainability" or "Going Green"
Greener living is in the spotlight, and rightfully so. We at Patio Connection
are concerned about the environment and are trying to do our part to help change old wasteful practices in the workplace.
It will be a long process which will require
a willingness to learn new ways to live. We are willing to learn. We are interested
in any thoughts you may have which will help all of us in “Going Green”.
Some of the steps we have taken:
1. Set thermostats
to the highest comfortable levels to get buy.
2. Used swap coolers instead of air conditioning in select areas.
3. Recycle all
cardboards and plastics.
4. Turn off unused lights in Kitchen and warehouse areas.
5. Set computers
to go into sleep mode when not in use.
6. Recycle old computers and cell phones.
7. Use remanufactured toner and
ink cartridges.
8. Print on both sides of paper or keep old reports for scrap paper.
9. Installed
filtered water system to reduce plastic bottle use.
10. Provide reusable dishes and silverware in the lunchroom.
11. Instituted telecommuting procedures to reduce
gas and mileage.
12. Schedule deliveries to minimize travel and gas consumption.
13. Encourage our vendors to do their parts
in Going Green.
14. Actively seek to change old habits.
This is a learning process and as we learn we will update this page so it can be shared with others.
